Hey people Im building a new PC and was wandering which graphics card to buy!!! Its a budget pc as im a student but im trying to get the most powerful beast i can my current sec is a due core AMD(AMD Athlon 64 x2 6000+ 3.1GHz)(OMG a 3GHz AMD lol) 4GB 800MHz(2X2GB) DDR2 ram, Asus AM2+ mother board (so I an upgrade to quad core if needed) and around 500GB Samsung HDD but which graphics card im looking at getting a Nvidia 9600GT 512MB will this power my computer on a 1080p HDTV for standard computer stuff???? Will it run Crysis (the game)!!!! Are there any cards better cards in the same price range (£72(around$140) for the 9600GT could go up to £90)I cant see much difference in specification between the 9600GT and the 9800GT is there an real difference in performance!!! One more questions how would I connect my TV HDMI to the card?????
Thanks badger

I have almost the exact same setup as you -- 6000+ and 9600GT -- and I can run most (if not all) games on good settings. When it comes to Crysis, I play on 1024x760 on Medium settings (with some extras), and it runs silky smooth. However, if I bump it up to even 1280x1024, it starts to stutter a bit.

UT3 runs perfectly smooth with everything turned on at 1280x1024 (my LCD's max res), and Oblivion is currently getting a consistent 50-60 fps in most places, 30-60 outdoors or in busy areas...again, at 1280x1024 with 4x AA, bloom, distant landscape, etc...

There's not a huge difference between the 9600GT and 9800GT, but that being said, if I did it over again, I'd get the 9800GT. It'd be nice to know that my GPU is at least average or above, judging from what 3dmark06 says. If you have a little more money, the ATI 4850 sure looks great.

thanks for the reply smoothjk after some thinking im still not s100% but im thinking of going with the 9600GT practically now you have confirmed it can run crysis but im going to spend £10 extra and buy an SLi ready mother board (Asus M2R32) and at a later date when i have an extra £70 free ill buy a second 9600 i think this should give more power(at least around the same) as the ATI 4850! Im hope to have a little go at over clocking it a bit anyone had any experience with over clocking the 9600GT?
Thanks badger
