i was on my computer yesterday afternoon and i heard a storm coming in and all of a sudden thunder so loud that i really think my house's antenna (which has no use at all) may have gotten hit by lightning. i looked outside and no trees had fallen, but it was so loud i swore something had gotten hit.
anyway, my internet was dead (cable) suddenly even though nothing on the computer acted up and the tv cable was working fine. cable connection said it was fine. i looked at the ethernet card that is built in to the ds3 mobo and the lights were not flashing. completely dead, but it still said connected. i tried to uninstall and reinstall it and after the uninstall it kept saying a network card was unplugged even though it was not. it truly appears to have totally died. i have no idea how though as everything goes through a surge protector including the cable modem's power source.
so very weird...does anyone have any idea? or am i going to have to buy a new network card now? what are the odds of something else getting fried on the computer/mobo? i played around on the computer for a while and everything else seemed to be fine. oh, and also, i tried another ethernet cable and that changed nothing.
