What HDD should I get

Ok when I have the money im gonna buy myself a new HDD for my rig im gonna make untill then im using an old 80gb one.

What HDD should I get my mate said get 2 raptors (they the 10,000rpm ones right?) ad run them in raid one or something.

Is that a good idea? or should I get one raptor and install OS on there and everything else on a bog standard 500gb HDD.

Or any other suggestions.

WD Raptors only come in two sizes presently being the 74 and 160gb models. A RAID or sata array takes two drives and mirrors one as both are seen as one logical drive. A 500gb storage drive depends on how much you need to store. For large files or an endless number of them the larger capacity 7200rpm models usually work well.
