i have a dell inspiron 1150... all i've found out is that it's IDE... but any of the HDD's at newegg.com are either ATA-6,7, or SATA-150... which one's are compatible with my computer... my guess is ATA-6...

Your IDE Interface

My name is John, and I am a customer advocate at Dell headquarters.

The IDE drive specification for the Inspiron 1150 is Ultra-ATA/100, otherwise known as ATA-6.

If you have any additional questions, please let me know.

ata vs sata

Don' t worry. you won't mix them, because their connector and and interface are totally different. sata HDD doesn't have pins by which you can tell it.

true... but there's no reason to buy a HDD that won't work with my laptop... is there?;)
