I don't want to hi jack this thread but when you say 6600GT, which card are you talking about and please be specific since there are about 30 of them

Well then dont hijack the thread :P

which card are you talking about and please be specific since there are about 30 of them
Unless we're discussing thermal capabilities, theres not much point specifying as they are all damn near the same

I plan on building a computer soon and when I read the post I hijacked:) it said AGP was better than PCI but when I went to look at the 6600GT there were at least 30 of them, some PCI, some AGP, some 500 Mhz, some,1000 Mhz, very confusing to say the least. Then there was the memory GDDR3 Vs DDR3???? I was looking at a Gigabyte socket 939 (GA-K8NS Ultra-939) MOBO with an AMD64 3500 "Winchester" CPU, which 6600GT would you suggest, I don't play alot of graphic intensive games... but I may in the future.

Am pretty sure there no PCI 6600GT. You must of seen pci-e and agp. pci-e newer but both 6600GT will proberly perform the same. check your motherboard if it comes with agp get agp. if it comes with pci-e get pci-e.

I think you looking at different things. when you saw 500mhz you was looking at the core speed. when you saw 1000mhz you was looking at the ram speed.

They all are GDDR3 just some people write DDR3.

I think that motherboard is agp so just find the cheapest agp geforce 6600 GT(proberly around $210). All geforce 6600GT about the same.

None are PCI. The 6600GT comes in PCIe and AGP flavors

some AGP, some 500 Mhz, some,1000 Mhz
Aye thats marketing for you. The 6600GT is clocked at 500MHz but due to the effects of DDR, its effectively 1GHz. Naturally marketers will market the bigger number

The G on GDDR only specifies that its specifically made for video cards. This is because with GDDR2, the type of memory there was different from system DDR2.

Any AGP 6600GT

Effective RAM speed :D

argg then if video ram is its own ram then wut is shared memory doesnt that come from ur ram ie if u have 512 ram and 64 shared vid u acually have 448 ram??? so wuts the diff isnt it just a simpler and faster way to identify vid card ram and system ram???

Shared memory is system memory set aside for video operations

Uh ya. One is on your video card one isnt (i.e., if you're looking at the product then look at the card when you're talking to sales person, if you're talking about it, pay attention to the conversation and you wont get confused)

i kinda screwed up that post i meant like if ur liek a major comp geek and ur talking about ur new fangled system and rather than saying i have "512 ram and a 256 video card" is liek teh geek way of saying it liek "512 ddr and 256 ddr2". i no this will not help me a bit in teh real world but i just wanted to no plz no flamin

Fail English much? Ive got no idea what on earth you're trying to convey

OK, after further review and reading more information than I knew I could, I have decide to get the MSI K8N Neo4 Platinum MOBO which has PCI-e. Which specific 6600GT card would you folks recommend? I was looking at the Asus nVIDIA GeForce 6600GT, I would like to have a tv input and know that there are seperate tuners available but my head is getting too full to deal with that right now so any help would be appreciated. I want to stay away from All in wonders since I have a Radeon 7500 AIW and I really don't care for it.

whenever i see all these numberings on vid cards i'm like always comparing like it'll be the same like a 6600gt will be like a 9600xt or something LOL

LOL

That Asus is an excellent choice, I also like the XFX Geforce 6600 GT, obviosuly I don't have one but I've seen them in action in my friends computer.

Not thats its an earthshhattering difference but anything except the MSI 6600GT PCIe as it tends to have heat issues.

Ill attempt to make sense of that assume you intend to compare 6600GT to 9600XT? Not even close.

Yeah well I dont speak stupid. :P

I'm going to run with that then until somebody tells me different...which somebody will, guaranteed!
Yeah me. Its overcharged.

THIS card or the 6600GT OC?
