I would go for the second one, mainly because it has twice the RAM, larger hard drive, faster processor, and XP MCE. Although either would be good for the money.

Thanks Omega. You mentioned that XP MCE was an added value and I would prefer it over Vista. Since the seller says that it is not installed and he is not including any restore disks, am I going to have trouble getting it up and running. I called Gateway and they said even though I have a "license key", they can not sell me restore disks because I am not the original owner. Is there some other way? Thanks again.

I was going to ask you on that. If you have a legit CD-Key but no CD's, I would say the best thing to do is download the 30-day trial of the OS and use your CD-key, which should work in activation.

As long as you're not worried about getting an OS, I would say they are pretty equal deals for the money... the $300 one has right about $100 in improvements, so it's up to how much you want to spend. Both are pretty good deals, so I would go with the better one.

Okay, if I understand correctly:

1. I download a trial version of XP MCE from the Microsoft web site to a CD in my existing machine.
2. Put the CD in the new machine and go through the install prompts. When it asks me for the key, I put in the number that the seller has supplied me(I am assuming that is pasted to the side of the machine) in place of the numbers that the free trial gives me.

Thank you.

Yes, thats if you can find the trial of it, you may be able to download it via a torrent and use your CD Key, although i'm not 100% sure on that.

Although don't do this if you aren't sure if it comes with the CD-Key or not.
