what is a GPS?

used to navigate mostly. u can use them in your car to figure out where you are or where you are going, sort of a virtual road map. hikers use them, bikers use them, pilots can use them but usually they have something more advanced.

most popular with outdoors people like hiking and biking and in cars i think.

Depends what your looking for, you want a personal hand held one, for your car, for a boat, etc.? Most big electronic stores sell them, circuit city, best buy, or online also, trying doing a search on froogle (googles site)

Technically those are GPS receivers, your own satellite might be a bit much to buy though :P but any of those stores will sell one to your liking, if you look around you can probaby find a good inexpensive receiver

They have handheld ones, vehicle ones, marine ones, ect, although the marine ones are the most expensive, then the vehicle ones, then the handheld ones. If your looking for something cheap, get a handheld one for around $100-$200. Some nice vehicle ones also tell you how fast your giong and is in color.

100MPH in a beat up Bronco lol...thought i was going to die!! GPS for speed since display guages were broken...not too safe. :P

heh 100mph, assuming you were on a freeway with a 65-70mph speed limit, how did you get up to 100 without knowing?

o we knew, we were in the HOV lane. across the median there was a cop with a speedometer, we passed him and he pointed at us. got off next exit and freaked lol. i wasn't driving, sisters BF was. he either didnt call it in or we jsut got lucky, nothing ever happened.

thanks,
how to find a GPS?
Now thats what i call an ironic statement

Portuguese... Insults come in many ways, dont let your spelling be one of them.
lol

You'd need more than one, i think 3 is the theoretcial minimum but something more like 6 over one spot would be needed in reality, :D now that would be expensive :D

GPS is good, but i does have limitations ie under heavy canapoy (a time when you really need it), near built up areas
