What is better / More future proof?

Hey everyone. I was wondering, what is the best mobo/cpu/gfx combo from the ones below:

P35 / e6750 / 8600gt

p35 / e6550 / 8600gts

P35 / e4500 / HD 3850

This is all i can afford. I am using the p35 (Gigabyte GA-P35-DS3L), as it is the cheapest 45nm and future proof motherboard. I dont game alot, but i would like to game more, so i would like the best preformance. I would really like the setup to be future proof.

Thanks,

The P31-DS3L or Neo P31 or any other P31 chipset also supports the 45nm... it's the "sister" of the P35.

3rd one. Mainly for the GFX.

What's your overall budget?

i want a P35, bc it supports 8b of ram......and, i dont really want a e2xxx, bc they pretty much have no cache what so ever. Also no fsb. Is there a large diff between the e2200, e4500, or e6550? what about e6750?

why would you want it to support 8 gb ram? thats heaps. the P31 supports 4 gb. thats all you will really need in my opinion. but yeah.

i still dont think more then 4 gb will be necessary. better to spend that money on a better cpu. that will help more in the long run

k. i think since i dont game too much, how about a p31(i cant believe im saying this), q6600, and 8600gt 512mb. I know it sucks, but i think its good for cod4, nfsps, and css.....what do you think?

ok heres what i think,

your best suggestion- P35 + 8600 GT + Q6600 = $490.

my best suggestion- P31 + HD 3850 + Q6750 = $480.

personally i think that the bottom one is better. cpu is definately enough, graphics card is awesome and mobo is just fine.

Cache, speed, FSB.

Do NOT underestimate the E21xx or E22xx series. They have the 1333FSB mod ;) Increases overclocking capabilities, ect.

Well, in a year, people will start to get 8gb of ram, and as i said, i MUST make sure its future proof.

4GB is not needed. If you have even tried, it's very hard to use 4GB of memory. And anyways, next year, octo cores. Your dual would be outta date anyways.

The 8600GT would play like crap. The Q6600 would laugh at it. Drop the CPU down to a E6750 and get a HD3870. If you ever go comparing your rig, I'm betting everyone would tell you of a big GFX bottleneck ;)

yes. i am using the top one, as i can not really afford the bottom one with the rest of my build. And, i found the ECS P35T-A, which is a p35 that is 2 dollars more than the p31.

yea, the 8600gt is a HUGE bottleneck, but as i said i dont game much, and it should run cod4 on minimum, but nfsfps is ok, and css is fine bc i max it out with my 6200. But seriously, do you really think i should go nuts on a GFX card if i dont game much? even you say that the dual core would be outdated, and quad core would be full blown. and to me, thats more important, bc the proccesor is a more dangerous part to replace, while for my birthday, i can just get a 8800gts becuase it will be much cheaper (like september).

ECS Elitegroup motherboards have served me well, but don't buy it. ECS is one of the lower end and poorer quality type of motherboards. Although they are OK in my opinion, I wouldn't buy it if you're going to do alot of gaming/overclocking on it.

It'll run COD4 all right. I have played it on my 7300LE 128MB card at lowest and never lagged one bit. Yes you should... Here's a good thing though. XFX has a 8600GT that (I have been told) can be overclocked close to a 8600GTS's performance. 8800GTS will be greatly outdated in September. GeForce 9's will be out, and probably the GeForces after that...

The processor is not dangerous to replace. Buy, take out the old one, place the new one in, :).

I'm not saying you should go crazy with the GFX, just that you should consider a better GFX if you wish to play the most recent games at a decent framerate.

Well, again, i want a decent video card, but right now im on a tight budget. Thus, i want the cheapest decent graphics out there, and i am looking to go high eight series later on in 08 for the price they will be at. I am sure, that they will be out dated, but they will still preform, and most importantly :D preform for a low price.....i know im cheap, but im already way over my budget with a 8600gt + Q6600. But i will look into getting a HD 3850, and thanks for your help!

also, what do u prefer?

A:

gigabyte p31

or

ECS P35

Will the cheapo ECS give me problems? I dont really want / currently do overclocking.

Get the P31. You will not need > 4GB of RAM for a long time. When you do need that much, you'll probably be ready to buy a new board anyway.

P31 $72.99

E4500 $124.99

Radeon 3850 $164.99 after MIR

$362.97

It might. Gigabyte is a far better company. Like mep916 said, by the time 4GB+ of memory if needed, the whole system will need a upgrade.

I'd go with mep916's build. Great build too :)

ok...thanks guys...i get a p31. I truly hope it will last me a while, ill be really pissed off if 4gb bc mainstream next year and my whole system becomes a crap hole (with the exception of the 8600gt which is already crap). I like the general features of the p31-s3g. Also, how do the 8600gt compare to a 7600?
