What is going on? Siren Noise?

Recently, when ever I run any program for a while such as Mozilla, my computer starts to make a very audible siren noise. This noise will go on immediately when I play a graphic intensive game and will usually shut off if I just minimize the program I am using.

The Computer I am running is...

Windows XP
Pentium 4 CPU 3.00 GHZ 3.06, 2 GB RAM
ATI All-in-Wonder X600 series Video card.

What is causing this noise?

I have an Asus motherboard, can't remember what specific model (is there a way to figure that out). So what is overheating? What do i need to replace?

its definitely over heating.

open ya case, and chances are a tonne of dust will fall out all over you.

clean out all the ports on ya case for air to get in from dust, clean ya CPU heat sink (remove then use a small paint brush...clean of course...)

my style of heat sink made this very easy to do, no ideabout your set up.

ALSO, when my computer did it, i think it may also have been caused by faulty thermal paste. it was in a hard lump and not really doing its job, so suss that out.)

and ahh... the first time i did this my CPU came out with the sink and i bent half its pins.

interestingly, using a pair of tweezers i managed to straighten them all, and its still working today hahahaha.

so yeah, be careful.

Yes definately sounds like over heating i suggest you open up your case to see how much dust is all over your components and clean all the dust off with a paint brush or you can buy an air duster basically compressed air to go crazy with and check if all your fans are working and if not maybe replace or buy a new computer.

Hope you find the problem.:)
