What is the best cpu that I can buy for my PC

HP says it only supports 9xx chips, which means they either didn't update the page, or they don't have the BIOS updated to allow for 6-core models. Probably the latter...you can call them and ask.

Thanks I tried calling in for 2 hours and they refused to help me because it is over a year old.

Here is more info.
Current CPU
Operating speed: Up to 2.6 GHz
Number of cores: 4
Socket: AM3/AM2+
Bus speed: 4000 MHz HT3
TDP: 95 watt

Would this one work?

Ahh, that good ol' tech support. Anywho, I guess my best advice would be to do a lot of googling on your system and BIOS updates, or on your system and the Phenom II X6.

Usually with original equipment manufacturer systems you are very limited on central processing unit upgrades. My guess is it is not possible to upgrade.

I doubt any 125w cpu would work. The motherboard probably can't handle more than 95w.

You'd have to stick with a 95w cpu, and even if you could find a 95w 1055t I doubt it would work as the bios is too old on the motherboard.

Honestly, do you really have a CPU bottleneck? Any Phenom II quad should be plenty for almost anything really. What do you do with your PC?

I would think the highest CPU you could get that would work would be a Phenom II 945. But the only difference is 400mhz faster clockspeed, thats it. Probably won't even notice any difference.

^ +1 TDP would probably be the bane of your existance with that Mobo... and the cpu you have should be pretty damn ok...

As others have said, your CPU is pretty nice to begin with. If you're gaming, your main bottleneck is the Radeon HD 4350.;)

Yeah, the CPU is the strongest thing in the entire system!!! lol

But before upgrading the graphics card he'll need a power supply.

That antec will fix you up great.

Then for the graphics card, I'd have to recommend-

http://cgi.ebay.com/EVGA-GeForce-98...484?pt=PCC_Video_TV_Cards&hash=item1c1803f7ac

for maximum bang for the buck.

But if you can afford it-

That card can play any game at pretty much any settings at 1080p.

Nice deal there on the 9800 GT! Surprised you didn't recommend a GTX 460, though. ;)
