I am looking in to getting a dvd burner and I want to get one with dual layer burning capabilities and light scribe; what brand is the best LG, light-on, pioneer ect does anyone know which one of these is the best and is there a brand that I should stay away from

It seems that LG has has the best speeds compared to the other ones even pioneer plus it has SATA now that is cool and its cheaper one thing though, how do you know if it can read dvds; because my friend bought one and it could only burn and not read, I want to find out if it can read BTW the model is

LG GSA-H62L(Black) SATA LightScribe DVD-Writer 18x DVD+R/-R 8x DVD+RW/6x DVD-RW 10x DVD+/-R9 Dual Layer 48x CD-R 32x CD-RW OEM

In my opinion there all really the same, you won't notice any difference with burning speeds etc, they'll all do pretty much the same time with only a few seconds appart, I've had a liteon, and a LG, and a ASUS, all good brands never had one die on me, I'm currently running a LG and it works perfectly.

Your prob wondering why I've gone through so many .. lol I've sold them off when I upgrade my computer

I have a Hitachi/LG burner.. and it's been nothing but good news so far.

Although, I've had great success with Pioneer, as well.

I'm pretty sure the thread starter will ask this, from all these dvd burners you have own, which brand has been your favorite

Like said above, I used most of them at one time or another, but lately I,ve just been installing LGs and had very good luck with them.

I have 2 NEC 3550A and a LiteOn (can't recall). The NEC is great. Had them two years and always a solid burn. They get used often too as I burn about 10 disks a week or so.

I have an Asus. I barely use it and it's crapping out on me i.e. it won't recognize like it normally should and ask me to format it? I dunno. I won't buy Asus again. Been looking at LG's. They have some lower timings than other manufacturers.

I've had an ASUS drive which i haven't had any problems with, I've had a pioneer drive which i have had for quite a while now and that also hasn't failed me in anyway. However Two of my Lite-on drives have failed me, they were both similar models, they stoppped writing and sometimes struggled to read certain discs. I've recently bought a Lite-on for the computer in my sig and apart from it being a little noisy i haven't had any problems with it so far.

So basically what i'm saying is that i don't think there is that much of a difference between the different brands.
