What is the best PC security?

My Norton 360 runs out in a month so I'm in the market for new security. I've heard getting separate software for each aspect of defense (one for antivirus, one for spyware, etc.) is ideal, and that's the direction I'm heading. Price is not a factor. What are your thoughts?

Well everyone has their own opinions on whats the best out there,I've been running Kaspersky Internet security 2010 then 2011 and its been very reliable for me,never had any virus/spyware problem....so i would recommend that.

Others to consider is Avast Professional,Eset Smart security etc if price is no factor.

I recommend MSE. No need to spend money. As long as you run firefox with the right add-ons like Adblock Plus and NoScript you should be fine.

I put Microsoft Security Essentials on a customers computer about 6 months ago and they haven't had a single problem. And best of all its free :good:

If ya need free then many have said Microsoft Security Essentials.
I also wanted more and have had Kaspersky Internet Security. Just bought 3 yr for
5 computers. firewall and everything else.

I figure it would depend on your habits. I have been using MSE with mozilla and web of trust with no problems. If you visit shady sites you might need some thing more:eek: From what I have read though, anything will be better then norton.

MSE here as well and since I have XP I run Comodo firewall, if I had Win7 I would just use that firewall.
There are quite a few on-line scanners (Bitdefender & Eset are 2) that you can run once a month or whenever you suspect an infection. They never find anything on my machine but they set your mind at ease.

"Price is not a factor"
Some people don't 'feel' safe with free and it is important you feel safe and trust your security software.
Kaspersky has a good reputation but it has also been known to slow the computer a bit
Emsisoft also has a good reputation but the same computer slowdown
Having said that, since you have been using Norton you will possibly see an increase in computer speed

When it comes time to uninstall Norton you should check to see if the Norton Removal Tool is needed (it probably is)
