hello. im debating on which way to go. Im building a computer for sale, and im not sure which platform to go with. it will be for gaming, and regular basic tasks. the main focus is on gaming though, and the cost to the costmer is the same. so should I go with

z97 motherboard, 1 x 8gb ddr3 1600mhz ram (8gb single channel), and i3 4130 3.4ghz cpu
or
x58 motherboard, 3 x 2gb ddr3 1600mhz ram (6gb triple channel), and i7 920 2.7ghz cpu

like I said, the cost to the consumer is the same with either platform.

Neither, unless you customer want to stick to intel.

Overclock in budget - FX6300 ~$90 + 990FX ~$95 + 2 x 4GB

Non - overclock = i5 4460 ~$185 + dirt cheap H81 $40 + 1 x 8GB

If it has to choose between the two above, first one have more upgrade ability. But I do think the second one is faster.

cisco 001, it has to be 1 of these 2 platofrms, as I already have them here. the one I choose through you guys here will be the one for sale, and then the other one will go back to my friends. he don't care which one he gets. just wants me to pick which ever one I think will sell better

and okeydokey, sorry for the double post. just added the option to get either the z97 or x58 with the build, that I posted on line for sale. ive only got a day or 2 brfore I have to get a computer back to my friend though, so I have to know which direction im going to take by then

pas mark says the i7 920 is a little better. The original series I were always better as a gamer/workstation, while the second gen are strictly gaming.

Well of course, its hella more powerful

The allure to a z97 and i3 build is that down the road, you can upgrade to an i5 4690K, or i7 4790K, or even broadwell

yeah, its going to be marketed as a used computer for sale, even if I go with the z97 and i3, since they are all out of the boxes and are used, so it will never be marketed as a "new" pc for sale. it will be marketed as "mid level gaming pc".
