What is the cheapest vcard to run the sims 2 perfect?

i need to upgrade my vcard to play sims 2 + all expansions with graphics high so i'll be wanting a geforce card AGP and 256 ram is ok. so my specs are below and if anybody knows then let me know what i should buy. my budget is i dont want to but i can if i must go over 100 dollars but less than 150. maybe a 6800 is all i need i dont no. help plz

I would recommend the 7600GT, i've played the Sims 2 on my comp which has a 7600GT and it works wonders.

I won't go for the 7600GS. It has DDR2 technology. You should really try to go for a DDR3 technology. I have a 6800GT, try to find one of those (or perhaps an ultra?) and you'll be happy as hell. Mine 6800GT can play COD4 easily on 4xaa and high quality. I have just trouble with NFS Pro street... And they are very good overclockers!

why not go for an 8600GTS? more future proof than buying a mid-range DX9 card

unfortunately for the sims 2 to run smoothly you are going to need two 8800 ultras in SLI

No dude you dono't need all this, you should be able to run the sims 2 with a 6200, check the thread i have about deal of the day, where you can get a 6200 128mb, shader 3 etc etc, for about 5 dollers...

I've had the sims 2 RUNNING on an old FX5200 if that gives you anything to go on.

yeah thanks, im running it now on a 5200 and i have to choose 800X600 resolution and all graphics options are low. but i should be getting my 7600 any day now.
dragon2309, why do u need such a powerful pc btw!? just get a xbox 360! ur pc is a tad overkill lol

well i got my 7600 and it seems to run very smoothly on the top resolution with everything on high! but ive only played it abit
