what is the most craziest game with settings requiring super high.

FEAR wasn't all that demanding, I could have it on high settings with my old computer: XP 2400+ (socket A), 1GB PC2700 RAM and an X850 Pro AGP, and it didn't lag.

I haven't put FEAR back on my computer yet, and Oblivion didn't lag much on my old computer either. I'll put that one on my new one now :)

High setting in FEAR means that you are running it at least at 1280x1024, high details, 4xAA and 16xAF

I do on my pc, and it works :) My pc can handle Rainbow six vegas med high tough, so RB6 is obviously harder to run already :) (at least, Om ny pc ofc)

F.E.A.R. is harder to run then Extraction point. I think they must have a better engine or something on Extraction point cuz I'm getting about 200FPS on average. and on regular fear, only 60FPS...

Supreme Commander.
It brings the best systems out there right now to their knees.
It won't run to it's full potential until new hardware comes out.

honestly id say bullcrap after seeing it, but i've only seen it once and cant say that yet. explain why please

Try running FSX at full right settings!

Kevin

actually when you get down to it fsx,x plug ins are not nearly as demanding as x-planes. X-plane is more of a user created game and crazy models can be inputed into the game. I can only run smaller terragen models on my rather powerful computer, i shoudl install it on my work computer, but entire planets can be placed as models. These plantes may not have dynamic rendering but damn do they look good. And fsx is not calculating the airfoils while you fly. This uses up large amounts of memory to get large numbers of Ai planes

Perhaps.. well, it depends on how you look at it tough. iirc, x-planes loads the whole landscape at once (or at least a big deal) while FSX only loads the visible/neccecairy parts, considering that FSX is programmed 'smarter' because of that, i'd say FSX is definately better. (and I gues if it would render everything the way x-planes does, about no pc would be able to run it ^_^

the thing about supreme commanders isen't high detail graphics.
its the massive volume of them that can be displayed on your screen quite easily.

your playing on a massive map and if zoom out far enough to see whole regions then you can be literally looking at hudreds of animated guys that you can select and move all at once. hundreds of models, textures, movement calculations, animations, shadows, etc. maybe all yours, maybe belonging to a pc opponent and including hundreds of ai calculations aswell.

thats basicaly when i'm guessing based on the review they had on g4 about it.

anyway, i just installed it so i'll have to give it a try on my pc

Flight Sim X requires a beefy computer, althought the requirments state it does'nt, to run it smoothly u need at least a dual core and 512mb of video ram. To run it at max setting u need something in the sorts of a Intel dual core X6800, 10,000rpm HD's, dual 8800 GTX's, 4 Gb of ram, asus striker mobo, and preferably it all watercooled. Dx10 is supposedly going to make it phenomenally realistic at max settings... but we will see.

believe it or not medieval 2 total war doesn't require that beefy of a computer to run. depending on the unit sizes in towns and huge reinforced battles might cause some lag but for normal gameplay its fine

Currently FSX doesn't take advantage of multiple core processors. SP1 is scheduled to be released within the month to rectify that oversight on ACES part.

Umm..that's BULL!!! my computer runs it on max and hi resolution (1240x1024)

BUZZ!! WRONG!!, I can run it high on a PD 930, with a 7900GT. Plz, don't try to feed anybody full of that.

Not to mention 8800 GTX's weren't even out when flight sim x was released. Did microsoft test this game and it were forced to play it on 800 x 600? lol

I bet tough that the pc's microsofts programmers (and game programmers at all) are using a bit more modern pc's tough I gues (because else games would alway's lag behind the hardware with about a 2 year span (or even a bit more :) )

honestly id say bullcrap after seeing it, but i've only seen it once and cant say that yet. explain why please

The reason why, is that it models the entire game fully in 3D, and keeps track of hundredes of units at a time. It also tracks in every shot made by every unit in realtime, and uses hit detection to determine if those shots hit a unit or not (of course in 3D, so a shot can miss a unit high or low, or side to side).

It's actually pretty ****ing crazy.

supreme commander was made with dual core in mind. it can run on single cores but definitely not maxed out and once you get a lot of units on the screen the lag is almost unbearable. graphics might not be top notch but it relies heavily on a good processor. i personally own it and quite honestly i think its a bit over rated but i won't say its the worst game by far definitely not as good as everyone made it out to be

Armed Assault is the latest realistic war simulator its island is 400sq kilometer in size and in high resolution. You can view it 10k range all around on max settings. HDRi graphics and you can in the editor add an unlimited amount of troops , tanks and aircraft, ships in any area on the island. How many you can add depends on the hardware, any computer can be taken past it's limit. The Ai calculations are vast as each soilder once planced in the editor on the map acts like a real soilder spotting and reporting enemy movement to the rest of his army and engaging with his own free will. 120 troops and 30 armoured vehicles per 10k sq mile is how i set up wars so you get the idea of the computing power going on. The Armed Assault is based on the simulator created for the US marine core it's not an arcade game like other shooters.

Even dual 8800 768MB cards are pushed to their max with this game the graphics settings are designed to be set higher and higher as the year goes by and the new card designs keep coming out. For this game 2GB Ram is needed to see smooth performance in busy battles.

This is a pic of a tiny spec of the island
