after reading the reviews some customers say it crashes after a week and some say it dies....
i never bought anything from newegg before
my friend is in the US and he's coming back in a week or so
so i thought i tell him to buy me this HDD as it's cheaper than here

is it possible to be defected or anything ?
and if so ... what options do i have .... knowing that newegg doesnt ship internationally

I have the exact same drive and I have nothing but good with it. Not to mention it is FULL and used every single day of the week :) I recommend it

There is always a chance of a defective part but I'd say it's very low. On the chance that it is, you can probably deal with WD directly to get a replacement.

are you saying that i can go to WD retailer here in Egypt and ask him for a replacement ?

Well if WD calls them and gives them credit yes, but the more likely senario would be WD sending you out a new drive. What normally happens is you contact WD and they trouble shoot it with you and all the other BS, if they find that it is a defect in their product and it is within warranty they will probably RMA it for you. I really wouldnt worry to much about it, WD makes a quality product, but if in the case that you do get a dud WD will help you out

The reviews on that site are all quite positive. I would say that's a good indication. Thing is, I found those drives to be crap unless used lightly. Any heavy load and they puke. It's up to you, and it depends on your application, but regular home use should be fine. WD should look after you if you need them. They have the RMA process down to a science (which doesn't surprise me).
