What is the REAL difference between the 78 and 7900?

I was thinking about getting a 7800 but then I saw the 7900 and it was cheaper but it also seemed better. Is there anything I will be loosing if I get the 7900?
 
Hmmm I see that the 7800 is better in some places but not by much but the 7900 is better in more places and is alot cheaper. Hmmm I guese I will get that one sence it seems to be a much better deal.
 
Which 7800 and 7900 are we comparing?

7800GT/GTX or the 7900GT/GTX

The 7900 shouldnt be a lot cheaper unless your comapring like a 7800GTX 512MB and a 7900GT.
 
The 7900 has a higher core and memory frequency and the 7900 also has more pixel pipelines when you are comparing the GT to the GT and the GTX with the GTX.
 
the 7900gt + gtx are pretty much the 7800gtx only 90nm (so they run cooler) and they're clocks are a lot higher.
as opposed to the 7800gt (not gtx) they have an extra vertex shader and 4 extra pixel pipelines.
also, 512mb GDDR3 on some of them :)
