What is this 2 pin cord?

I am putting together a friends comp and his power supply is a hec ACE 580W. I found this 2 pin cord on it and it says nothing about it in the manual and I can't find anything about it online, even newegg doesn't show that cord in their picture.

I am assuming this is my issue on why the computer won't show the boot screen. I have tried the processor, videocard, and HDD all in my computer and they all work great. But his won't even boot, just turns on and remains with a blank screen.

To me that looks like one of those two pin cords that you plug into your mobo that makes the led on the case light up and such. I would check the mobo manual about this.
 
I've checked, dont really see a place for it to go. And I tried it on both the 3 prog fan connections on the mobo and still nothing. Also tried with it being disconnected.

The PSU's booklet lists all connections it has except that one, so I wouldn't know what to look for on the mobo, I have never seen a PSU with this connection on it, so I can't even imagine what it's for.
 
So there's nothing on the mobo that looks like this?

A bit hard to see from that picture, but it looks like a connector to allow the motherboard to monitor the PSUs fan speed. It shouldn't be required for the system to work.
 
shenry - That is there, but this plugin isn't mean for that. It's plastic end is too big and has 2 grooves on the ends. The only places it could go on the mobo are the fan connections because those have matching grooves. If you look at the pic you can see the 2 grooves sticking out on the top (which is actually the side of the plug).
 
Ah. I seemed to have missed that bit..... Only thing I can think of then would be to try it with a different power supply aside from the standard checking if every things plugged in routine but you have probably already done that.
 
Well I slept on it woke up and took a crack at it again. I realized that in a sleepy daze I had forgot to try his RAM. So I pulled out one stick and it still didn't work. Pulled out the last stick and insterted the 1st removed one and it fired right up.

So thats cool, too bad they were ordered as a group so I doubt I can only return one stick. Looks like he'll have to wait a bit longer n a running comp :( Ty all for the ideas.
