What is this port? I can't find it in the manuals and nothing looks like it so far that I've seen online.

Laptop is a HP Pavilion zd8000

Thanks!

the image is a square with a "2" next to it with a square underneath it with arrows pointing in and out.

If it helps I'll take a new photo.

i got a similar one on the base of an ibm thinkpad

you can buy a dock-type thing that expands your laptop by giving it more serial/paralell/ps2 ports

its specific to your series/model usually

What is the model and brand of your laptop??

Might be able to dig up a manual and it might be in there.

Or if you have the manual, have a look.

Looks very similar to a docking port that some of the more important people have in my office! You can plug your laptop into a box which basically has all the connections of a desktop PC (PS/2's, USB's, VGA's, network and all the other ports). The ones we have (all Dell) have fans etc as well. So it pretty much turns your laptop into a desktop.

I guess you will need a HP one if you want to use it as ours clip together snuggly - don't know why you would want one when you can get USB mice, keyboards etc..!?!

Hope that helps.

It is an Expansion Port.

The expansion base will allow you to use the following features on your HP notebook. These devices are designed for the needs of consumers and small-office professionals, it will not only elevate your notebook into the starring role but take computing beyond the bounds of your old desktop PC. You'll be turning your notebook into a multimedia control center, enhancing the sound of music and movies, saving space on your desk, and getting rid of cord clutter.

• Use your notebook's display as your monitor; it's easy to adjust it to
a comfortable height

• Stay connected to peripherals, power, and the Internet through a
single connection1 supplying six USB ports, an Ethernet port, and a
power jack

• Make your notebook a multimedia powerhouse with stereo sound from the
integrated premium Altec Lansing speakers

• Connect to your home entertainment system via a variety of audio and
video out ports2

• Operate cable-free and work more comfortably with the full-sized
wireless keyboard and wireless optical mouse

• Charge your notebook battery while connected to the expansion base
(using your notebook's AC adapter)

• Control media and presentations from the palm of your hand when using
the HP Mobile Remote Control (sold separately)

• Expand your storage with the preformatted, high-capacity hard drive
accessory kit (sold separately)

Thanks for all the responses :D

So from what I gather here, its a port I can plug expanders in to...give me more ports. Good Stuff!

Thanks again.
