hi there i have a Lenovo ThinkCentre S51 8172 desktop pc. my dad got it from work for free. i was looking into getting a grpahics card for it so i can play games on it like battlefield 2 etc. what i need to know is what grpahics card should i get and what format. AGP or PCI im not sure what my computer has. i managed to find this link on the wbsite giving some information on my computer. im taking that the slots that itll be are in the expansion/connectivity part in the link below.

but i have no idea which one it would be. i hope someone on here can help me out coz im a bit stuck at the moment.

thanks rob

1 ( 1 ) x PCI - full-length
1 ( 1 ) x PCI Express x1 - full-length

Looks like you only have PCI and one PCIe (X1) slot, plus it only has a 225 watt P/S

Would a PCI-E x 16 card downgrade it's self to work in his computer? Otherwise, x1 cards are kinda hard to come by, might as well go for PCI.

thanks for the replies, didnt think i would get such a quick response. so im looking for a pci-e card then. and yeah i will be looking into gettin a better power supply. would i be able to use the pci slot to fit a sound card as i play virtually all my music through my computer?

thanks rob

are pci-e x1 graphic cards hard to come by. and what sort of power would i be looking at to upgrade my power supply? thanks and what graphics to go for 256mb or 512mb?

thanks rob

right ok so i could be rather stuck here lol. another thing i just thought i have windows xp professional 32 bit not 64bit. is that a major factor when choosing a graphics card?

im also starting to think i should just start from scratch and build my own pc lol.

thanks rob

No that is not a major factor in choosing a graphics card.

You have a PCI slot so you could get a PCI videocard that might be able to play battlefield 2.

But you are better off building your own computer.

thanks for the posts guys. i might just get a cheap sound card for the time being to play my music through. then save up some money and build my own computer.

thanks rob

will that be ok then as i just bought a 5.1 speaker system for my computer cheers. any recommendations on a good one? cheers rob
