What kind of memory upgrade for desktop?

My girlfriend has a Compaq Presario SR1123WM running window XP, and it's really slow. She only has 256MB of Ram. What kind of ram does this computer take, and what is the max I can upgrade it. I also need to upgrade her service pack I noticed. I'll do that now...

Always refer to the board specifications to see what is supported rather then simpy counting on 3rd party sites to see what is actually supported. You don't want to rush out and end up with the wrong memory if the information turns out to be incorrect.
