What memory supported?

Hi
I've just got an ex-corporate Compaq EVO D510 CMT, with 256MB 2.5v PC2100 RAM (although CPU-z and SIW both report PC2300 - Compaq and Everest confirm PC2100). The MoBo is 07E8H, Intel 845G chipset.

Crucial state that both PC2700 and PC3200 would be ok, but Compaq manual says:
For proper system operation, if your system supports DDR-SDRAM
DIMMs, the DIMMs must be industry-standard 184-pin, unbuffered PC 1600 200 Mhz- or PC2100 266 Mhz-compliant, 2.5 volt DDR-SDRAM DIMMs. The DDR-SDRAM DIMMs must support CAS latency 2 or 2.5 (CL = 2 or CL = 2.5). They must also contain the mandatory JEDEC SPD information. DIMMs constructed with x4 SDRAM are not supported; the system will not start using
unsupported DIMMs. The Intel 845-G chipset does not support ECC memory.
I've not been able to find a report of successful installation of faster memory - I'd be grateful for any thoughts.

if you can't find any pc2100 memory then try some pc2700 and it should downclock no problem.

Problem solved - thanks

Thanks guys for your advice. I'll stick with PC2100.
I don't quite understand this from the HP specifications:
MAXIMUM MEMORY
Intel 845G Chipset supports up to 2-GB of DDR SYNCH DRAM. Platform can utilize 2-GB of memory when 1-GB DIMMs are available with the installation of optional DDR SYNCH DRAM Memory Kits.
Is synch DRAM a different type of memory? I want to know if I can use this:

and potentially add another to take me up to 2GB at a later date.
