25C-30C are generally pretty good motherboard temps.
One free ptogram for monitoring cpu temps as well as board temps is called SpeedFan. http://www.almico.com/speedfan.php This can be used to set an audio alert on both board and cpu if the temps go too high. The normal temps seen will depend on the type of cooling you have for the system.
A well cooled cpu with a better then stock HSF and a good cooling system for the case seems to help lower both board and memory temps to their optimum. An ideal temp for the board will be under the 35C mark while stock temps generally run in low 40s. Since P4s run hotter then AMD cpus that another item to consider when trying to keep overall temps down.

My P4P800 usually runs 27c - 38c tops. And thats with my slow Northwood.
My temps are way higher, but it seems normal compared to the deafult threshold and what others have said.....but they are high. I got usualy 48 on mobo and 55 on CPU under full load....all in Celcius. I may have to go watercooled in order to keep my hardware in good working condition for years to come.
EDIT: I got a heat pipe on the chipset, and a Zalman on my CPU, which is a great silent fan running at 2500 RPMs

As with my experience, case temps are usally just slightly above room temps, unless your room is extreamly cold or something
But it also depends on the case and the amount of cooling it gets. Take a really small case that gets next to no air flow, and you get...well you get those Dell's dad has been bringing home. Hehe, they got so hot it messed up some of the capacitors in about 20 of them

With the cpu here now seeing 50C idle the board temp is up to 42C. Fortunately replacement hardware will be in within a day or so to avoid damage here due to a chipset problem. A good temp seen on a well cooled system is 10-15C less then this. While stock cooling in a confined setup without good air circulation will see temps as well as when you are putting heavy loads on the system(games, large apps) climb as high as 46-47C. When you see board temps climb that high you know you have a problem somewhere.
Yes, but that wasn't his question, he was asking what is a high tempature for his motherboard, a program to see your CPU temp's is irrelevent.

SpeedFan also displays the current board temps as well the cpu's. That was why that was suggested since it does both. One vendor lists the suggested minimum and max temps advised as

A mobo should be able to work under 32 F. Iv seen mobos with frost on them still running, the ones they hook liquid nitro to the cpu heatsink to OC to 7ghz and all that.
The temps listed by one vendor would have to take into account stock as well as other methods of cooling used. Obviously when pushing your hardware when OCing you want to keep those down as low as possible. Before one cpu cooler with a 92mm fan meant for circulating air around inside the case went board temps averaged about 32-34C idle and only reached 37-39C with a good load. When the memory temps go up along with the cpu's then your's board will see an increase. To maintain ideal board temps you have to consider all parts when deciding on cooling. Often you will see hdrive coolers added along with memory and vpu coolers to end up with the lowest board temps. Large psus also have to have adequate cooling to exhaust the heat seen there.
