What Motherboard?

hey guys I want to get a GeForce 6800GT and a Pentium4 what motherboard should I get? I've heard ASUS is an excellent choice but which one? Also if anyone could reccommend which pentium to get it would be appreciated.
thanks

For the last question: Pentium 4? I don't know anyone who would go with a 3 or 2.

It depends on if you want PCIx or AGP video. If you have money (whic i don't:)) go with PCIx.

Check the thread you started titled "Soundcard", I gave two nice boards, one for AGP and one for PCIx.

Why would Intel do that, I heard the lifetime is something like 25 insertions (a lot less than other sockets).

I dunno ask the engineers :P Sure it may have an official lifetime of 25 insertsions but:
1. Thats assuming the person doing the installing is a clutz
2. It hasnt given people that many problems all in all

when i said not sure what pentium I meant what p4 there a bunch of different ones... could anyone tell me the advantage of going PCIx?

actually it has quite a long lifetime, the specualtions were 5-7 insertions/removals prerelease but it has ended up being much higher, bent pins and such almost don't occur.

the socket fails after too many insertions. Intel did it so that bent pins are handled by the motherboard manufacturer. So instead of Intel having a bunch of processors with bent pins the mobo companies get a bunch of boards with dead sockets

heeheehee, another reason not to like Intel, they are sneaky!:D

Instead of Abits Fatal1ty I'd buy P5AD2-E Premium, not that Abit is bad but the Fatal1ty comes with a huge price tag for really useless crap, RAM never overheats so it doesn't need a fan on it and the only somewhat useful feature on that board is the OTES power circuitry cooling

It is "the card of the future"
PCIe is a transfer/hardware spec ... applying to a whole class of hardware .... rather than specific products :)

Aye same.

Not even that, for the price tag you dont get the OC capacity of the ASUS board ... it comes close ... and is one of the few boards to hold a candle to that :) As for useless features, they're everywhere .... cables, manuals, jumpers, boxes, sales reps :P
