Well I just upgraded my memory up to four gigs. And replaced my 7600 gt graphics card with a 8800 gt.

What to do next. My system is in my sig. Please take a look and lmk what you guys think.
Also what about the graphics card? I got it for a $100. And I am willing to upgrade if its going to be worth it.

If any more info is needed let me know and I will accommodate.

a couple of questions, before we look at what to upgrade

1. what do you use the pc for?
2. what os do you have
3. any budget

I am an Architectural drafter. So I do alot of AutoCad and also Revit (BIM Software) and 3d stuff. I dont play to many games (internet connection is horrible), plus I still need to find a few that I like. (not much of a fps fan, unless its with a sniper rifle in COD)
I am using XP pro at the moment, but was thinking of upgrading to Vista ultimate.

As for budget, I try not to get to crazy. If the performance is worth the cost i can usually swing it.

64 or 32 bit OS?

To get the most out of your 4gb of ram, a 64 bit OS would be required.

XP 64 is terrible though, but vista 64 is good.

Ultimate is a waste of money though. If you do not need domain support go for home premium, otherwise go for business.

+1 for the above post, get vista 64 bit to get the most out of your RAM

your gpu is fine for your needs, unless you want to start gaming

your mobo doesn't support quad core so if you want to upgrade to a quad core you will need a new mobo. If you don't want to spend that much money then i would upgrade the cpu to a e8400 or e8200.

i personally think your current config is fine though, for cad etc... and even for gaming (but not crysis on max)

(the 8800 is a good gaming card but a quattro is designed specifically for cad etc..)

you could upgrade to a faster core2 though

and yeah, vista 64 bit.

Yeah 64 bit for sure. If I was to upgrade my cpu then I would also get a new mobo at the same time. I have no idea what to upgrade to. I ve been out of the loop for a little while, which in terms of tech. thats a life time it seems.

Should I make a jump up to 8g ram after the install of a Vista 64 bit? Would it make a noticeable difference?
