What OCs better 3870 or 8800GT 512 G92

i know that ATI cards are good at OCing , but i want to know what the highest someone has OCed one of these cards.
i am looking at a ASUS 3870 an if i do not get that i can get a gigabyte 8800GT 512MB for the same price, the only thing is that the gigabyte 8800GT is OCed to 700/1900 already.

With volt mods, the 55nm 3870's have been able to hit 1Ghz core clock!

With stock bios they are locked to 860mhz core clock, and most are stable. With a simple bios flash, you can unlock it completely.

I have heard good things about OCing 3870's and 3850's.

i can only get my 8800Gt overclocked to 705mhz from 600.

and theres no noticable performance increase.

If you are using that pentium D then there is your problem. My Pentium 4 cant keep up with the gt and a D has the same fsb so it shouldnt be that much better.

i think the max u can get a 8800GT is about 720MHz core clock
