What on Earth is going on with my computer?

Symptoms include: My wireless adapter just stops working from time-to-time and I have to unplug it and plug it back in, and sometimes restart the computer. Also, Firefox often says (Not Responding) for no apparent reason. Often, I will click on a desktop icon and it will just not respond. Then, sometimes, it works fine.

There has been no new hardware installations, and the only new program I recently downloaded was AVG.

I have AVG and it says I have no viruses.

I have recently twice received the error message where the computer will go black with a blue error message saying...

"A problem has been detected and windows has been shut down to prevent damage to your computer.

If this is the first time you've seen this Stop error screen, restart your computer. If this screen appears again, follow these steps:

Check to make sure any new hardware or software is properly installed. If this is a new installation, ask your hardware or software manufacturer for any windows updates you might need.

If problems continue, disable or remove any newly installed hardware or software. Disable BIOS memory options such as caching or shadowing. If you need to use Safe Mode to remove or disable components, restart your computer, press F8 to select Advanced Startup Options, and then select Safe Mode.

... and when the computer turned back on it said it had an error report involving...

...anyone?

PS: Is turning your computer off without properly shutting it down through windows (i.e., just pushing the off button) really that bad? Could this have caused this problem? Because sometimes I do that because the computer is freezing and it would take 3 minutes to wait for it to get around to letting me even click on the start button.

I tried to attach a picture of that error message, but this forum won't seem to let me attach a picture.

Please run the following and post the log.

Download BlueScreenView
No installation required.
Unzip downloaded file and double click on BlueScreenView.exe file to run the program.
When scanning is done, go Edit>Select All.
Go File>Save Selected Items, and save the report as BSOD.txt.
Open BSOD.txt in Notepad, copy all content, and paste it into your next reply.

I don't know how to start the scan. I don't see an option to do that.

Also, I removed Firefox from my computer and replaced it with Google Chrome, and it seems to be working better, but I would still like to do this scan anyway.

Apparently, it is supposed to scan automatically. Nothing is showing, but I have had two of these blue screens in the past week.

As soon as you open the program it scans. Then follow these directions.

go Edit>Select All.
Go File>Save Selected Items, and save the report as BSOD.txt.
Open BSOD.txt in Notepad, copy all content, and paste it into your next reply.

Check the event viewer for around the time the blue screens occurred and see if it says anything. Probably need to look under system heading. Also, if you run any temp file cleaner programs, they will delete the minidumps.
