What one would you get?

Which monitor would you buy?

I've been looking at monitors for a bit now, and I've found two that I like. I just have to figure out whats the smarter buy.

Here are my choices:
1). http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824236079
2). http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824236051

They end up coming to the exact same price before rebates.

I compared them and the smaller one seems to have better specs in some ways than the bigger one. I'm not sure if it will affect how pleasing it is to look at and if its worth loosing 2.5 inches over... but I do know he has an awesome personality and makes me laugh.

Is bigger better in this case?

Edit: Size doesn't really matter, I'd rather a better picture over an extra 1.5 inches. But if the difference in quality isn't noticeable I figure I might as well grab the larger one.

I see what ya did there:D

Looks like they are pretty much the same monitor but different sizes. For the price difference I would defiantly go with the 23". One thing I noticed is that the bigger one uses less power....go figure.
 
Ehh, I'm a bit apprehensive. A larger monitor sporting the same resolution as the smaller one isn't too great...

On the other hand, look at the contrast ratios!

21.5": 1000:1
23": 20000:1

!!!

23", all the way! :D

Why would it matter that they both have the same res it's 1080p it's going to look good on any size monitor.

Now that I think about it, you make a good point. 1080p resolution is absolute (at 1920x1080) and works for HDTVs too; and those can go up to ~70" in size.

I take back what I said. :rolleyes:

I take what you said from you, and but it back! :P For the same size resolution, different size monitors will have different pixel densities.

Think about this, if you slice that 70" HDTV to cut out a size of a 22" and look at up close like you would for a normal monitor, would be looking at something like 600x340.

The only reason that 70" looks good, is because of the distance you watch the TV.

I think it just happens that 1080P is a good resolution for most monitor size to viewing distance ratios.

One's real contrast and another's dynamic contrast. You cannot look at dynamic contrast as it was invented to basically fool people.
 
I know it may not help, but in the end they are both great monitors and may not notice an extreme difference in performance. But in the end if you're going for a 'gaming monitor' always go w/ higher contrast ratio and the lowest response time.

Ideally you want below 8ms as a minimum. Which both are. You'll get less 'ghosting' with the 2ms but I think 5ms is still plenty fine and w/ a much much higher contrast ratio, the 23" would be my pick if I had those 2 options. Not to mention it's bigger. :P
 
Just go with the 23" for $10 more. Your not going to be disappointed that I can promise you. Either monitor is going to look great but the extra 1.5" is going to be nice in the long run and is only $10 more. Everybody that has bought the monitor said it was great i don't think you will feel any different.
 
I'm not sure if we are going strictly on price here..

but I'd go for the 24" ASUS 2ms 1920x1080 monitor for $239

just to confuse the situation more!!! :P
