What processor should i buy

So im building a gaming/video editing/graphic design pc

Ive decide to buy Senty Burton case
Asus Maximus Formula V extended atx
Corsair 16gb(2x8gb) ram
500gb hard drive
120gb ssd
1000w power supply

Im trying to decide should i get I7 3770k or I7 3820

I7 3770k
The mobo you choose take LGA1155.
What do you need 1000W PSU for? How many video card are you having?

700W is sufficient for all your needs. (even most hungry cards) If you got 2 of them, go for a 800W psu.
The i7 3770k is a way better, it's newer, faster and oc's better. (also a z77 is cheaper then what you need for that 3820 one.)

Yes definitely get the 3770K over the 3820. The 3770K is faster at stock than a 3820 and it is designed to be overclocked, and the boards for the 3770Ks are cheaper than the 3820s.

alright so it sounds like im going to down grade to the corsair 800w gaming psu and im going with i7 3770k

in reply about graphics im going to put in two msi hd7770 radeon 1gb graphics cards
already put in cpu for order but im going to get the graphics cards on my next pay check

May I suggest that you don't get two 7770s, but rather something like a single 7850 or a 7870, it'll be better for you. Less power consumption, less heat, and the option to add another more powerful card down the line. The way I see it is that it is better to have one powerful card rather than two weaker ones.

You don't need 800W for two 7770s, 650W should be fine.

I don't know the exact cost for the Mobo, PSU, but if you can downgrade them a bit you should get a hex 3930K as it will perform better in video editing than 3770K and good for future, if it is stretching the budget then go for 3770K.

Also if multiple graphics cards are in your future...recommend 2011, more PCI-e lanes available for that than the 1155 socket. Though Ivy Bridge-e will be coming, and by the looks of it will be starting with 6 core chips...sounds delicious to me.

I was looking into the 3930k but it was expensive im making tight on my budget but if cores are better than what do you think about amd 8150 8 core with asus crosshair formula V

From the news I have heard Ivy Bridge-e is coming out after Haswell, so it is quite a long time for him to wait. There is a big chance that Haswell may also have 6 core series as it has a new architecture.

To the OP, if it is stretching your budget then go for 3770K, as it is way better than a 8150.
