What RAM can i put?

I would buy the 4 gigabytes of Patriot RAM. Seems like the best buy out of your options since the other two kits are only 2 gigabytes of memory.

but the problem now is that it can not run on a Intel 965 chipset.

Which is what ive got now.

I want something that ill use now and later.

3 Questions

1. Is it better to get the RAM that comes in two (optimised for dual channel?) or is it ok to get 2 singles?

2. would it be better to get four 512mb (fill as many slots) or two 1 gigs?

3. Also how much worth it is going to DDR3 or DDR2 1066+? I read somewhere that right now DDR3 is pointless as the FSB cant go to those speeds yet, and when they do, prices will drop

1.) it does not matter if the RAM that comes in two (optimised for dual channel?) all ot is is 2 ram chips the same brand an model.
2.)buy 2 1G sticks because then there is rom for upgrades.
3.) it is not worth it.

cool thanks man. But howcome the dual channel ones are more expensive?

Can i ask. With my mobo, do i need the same brand etc ram?

Cause im thinking i should keep my 1 gig ram and get 2 OCZ platinum 1 gigs.

Or should i just put the 2 gigs of OCZ ram

OCZ memory is good memory but is generally overpriced.

I would buy 2 gigabytes of RAM but look thru the following brands of memory for the best price.

Recommended good brands of Random Access Memory:
Corsair (XMS)
Crucial (Ballistix)
G.Skill (Samsung TCCD)
Kingston (Hyper-X)
Mushkin (Extreme Performance)
Patriot (Extreme Performance)
PNY
pqi (Turbo)
Super Talent

cool thanks for the heads up. Then ill go Super talent or Kingston

Same as above questions?

Also Which of these 2 will be a better investment, and which will be faster

Kingston 1066Mhz ram

or any other 800Mhz BUT with lower timings
eg Patriot PC2-6400 (cheaper than OCZ and better timings)

1. Ive read on the biostar site that i can have up to 8gigs DIMM memory. Whats the diff between DIMM, ECC and normal.

2. Ok when they say timings, do you have to increase voltage to get those timings, or are they standard? Cause i do NOT plan on OC'ing. so yeah...

3. Also, Which of these 2 will be better (considering Price diff), and will 1066 be much faster?

DIMM stands for Dual In-Line Memory Module.

Error Checking and Correcting (ECC) memory has enhanced parity circuitry that can detect internal data errors and make corrections. Error Checking and Correcting will detect and correct single-bit errors and allow the system to continue functioning normally. It will also detect errors of 2, 3 or 4 bits but will not correct them; instead, it will generate an error message and halt the system. ECC memory is often used in mission critical systems, such as high-performance servers. It cannot be mixed with non-parity modules.

You won't notice much more processing speed when comparing DDR2 800 and DDR2 1066 memory. I would buy DDR2 800 (PC2 6400) RAM.
