What resolution monitor should I buy?

So In my system I'm going to upgrade to one of these cards...
6850, 5770, GTX 460, or GTS 450. What resolution would be appropriate for those cards (to run a game at max settings?)

Also, What If I want to buy two monitors? I want two monitors But two 1920x1080 or 1920x1200 monitors would be we way more screen "real-estate" than I need, and expensive.

1080p resolution is best for gaming, unless you are considering something insane like 2560x1600 :P

5770 and gts450 the max resolution I would run that could be run with higher settings is 1680x1050.
The gtx460 and 5850 can handle 1920x1080 with high settings no problem.

Dual monitors are great. I game on one while having all my monitoring software on the other screen. Typically I have task manager to watch CPU usage, MSI afterburner to watch FPS + GPU temps +GPU usage, real temp to watch cpu temps, and cpuz up just because.

Do monitors need to be the same resolution?
could I do something like a 1080p monitor with a 1280x1024 or something I Don't think I want to spend money on two 1080p monitors.

Yes, should work fine.
I don't know if I should purchase a second monitor at 16:9, though. At my brothers high school they have setups with 1280x1024 as the main and 1920x1080 as a secondary. (video editing.)

What would you suggest for the second monitor? (I'm used to 1440x900)

EDIT: when did I go platinum?

Yeah the resolution doesn't matter on the secondary. I personally prefer to keep it the same size screen, I have two 1080p's. But a 1600x900 monitor wouldn't be that much different and it's a lot cheaper.

Okay, So here is what I'm looking at now:
Primary: 1920x1080
Secondary: One of the ones listed below. Not quite sure.

1280x720, 1280x1024, 1366x768, 1440x900, 1600x900, 1600x1200, 1680x1050.

I'm not sure about 1600x900, I've used it before and It seemed quite awkward.

Just go with a 1440x900 then they are typically pretty cheap.

All the rest of higher resolutions are too close to the price of the 1080p monitor to make it worth saving a couple buck.
So either look for a cheap 1280x1024 or 1440x900 monitor, or just go with the second 1080.

1600x1200 is nice... reminds of the beastly CRT's that could do that resolution with an 85hz refresh rate :D

Whats the lowest refresh rate that 3D can work with? 120hz?

I am going to do a power search on newegg- any specific brands to stay away from?

EDIT: for the monitors that are about $115 and under, should I worry about it having DVI? AFAIK you can use one of those converter plugs or whatever they are called?

DVI to D-sub (or VGA). For a secondary monitor you won't notice any difference.

Lowest refresh rate is usually 60hz.

I usually buy Acer or Asus. Samsung is good and so is HannsG.

Okay, Here we go.

I'm putting this one here for lulz. I like the Size, but the Bezel is huge.

18.5" ASUS, LED LCD. It has a lower resolution though.
Black Acer 19"
Black ASUS 19"
Another 19" ASUS
22" ASUS
yet another ASUS 22"
Acer 22"

I really don't know much about monitors and just chose them based on the bezel, If it was LED or not, resolution, and power consumption.
What I'm looking for here is just which would be the best choice in the 19 and 22 inch sizes.
