What screen resolutions are for widesceen?

I've noticed that with a widescreen monitor some screen resolutions look distorted and visa-versa when using a standard ratio monitor. Are there screen resolutions that are specific to widescreens?

Yeah, you can usually tell because in the properties box the little square/rectangle thing with a one on it changes to widescreen

These are the ones I know of
1280x768
1440x900
1680x1050
1920x1200
2560x1600
