What should a Core 2 Duo's Temp be at?

I have the 2.13ghz Core 2 Duo, MSI mobo, Zalman huge heatsink with 120mm fan on it. CPU temp right now is 39 degrees. I thought they were supposed to run cool...

I just redid the thermal paste with some copper/silver stuff.

Anyone got any pics of how much thermal paste I should be using?

Thanks!

Your temp seems to be above average because of the aftermarket cooling thingy. My C2D e6300 averages around 45C whilst idling.

The aftermarket cooling 'should' decrease the temps... I didn't think they were that high, I thought they were supposed to be cool...

My temp while idle is 25-27C and under a full load, OCCT and Prime95 it never goes past mid 40's.

What case do you have.

Another thing that will lower your temp, is to use the REAL stuff,
Arctic Silver 5 is the best. All of this OCZ and Compusa brand thermal paste is fake, they don't even contain purified silver, it may say so but it is bluffing. AS5 stays true to its name, 99% purified silver, the only reason they say 99% is because they don't know what fragments of impurities may be left. And just apply a uncooked rice grain amount, it is supposed to fill up microscopic holes and increase the surface area on the chip.
surface area=heat dissipation
