What should change?

I like to play games in the maximum graphics setting but when I play some fps games with very good graphics at high setting, but the frame rate seems to decrease where you can get annoyed because it looks lagging very small at fast rate.

I have Geforce 9800 GT 512mb video card and 2gb of ram.
My question is, what should I upgrade, the video card or the ram?
What video card should I buy next if I want to play any games in the highest setting.

Nvidia cards aren't the best at having full AA and AF settings. I have mine set to 4x/4x, and honestly there's pretty much no difference between that and 16x.

If you want to upgrade your card, you could try to find a GTX260 for decently cheap (around $150), or if you have the money an ATI 5850 will do the trick ($300).

One other question...whats the rest of your rig? CPU? Motherboard? Power supply? etc.

Took a second to "decode" that "English."

I would like to know all of the settings you play at and what resolution you play them at. In some cases spending $150+ isn't necessary.

Whats an upgrade from a 9800gt that doesn't cost $150+?

What I meant was that most of the time framerates can be improved without buying a new video card.

Yeah sure if you turn off AA/AF and/or turn the resolution down. Didn't sound to me like he wanted to do that!

I asked him what the rest of his rig was already, CPU/PSU/mobo/etc because we need to make sure it's not getting bottlenecked somewhere else first.

Couldn't agree with you more.
