What should i buy laptop or desktop??

Im afraid Im going to go against everyone here with the two computers, I would stick with just one big powerful laptop. Although,

While in say a meeting/class, you could be taking notes on the laptop while in your home/dorm computer is compiling.

So it could go either way, I know no one has really recomended a laptop, and thats pretty much all your asking, but give it about 5 more pages, someone will finally find you one. I would, but I dont know ANYTHING about laptops (except macbooks suck) *cough* avoiding a flame war...

No they don't, they beat the piss out of Windows when it comes to school work.. Especially mathematics classes, "Grapher" has came in really handy for linear equations junk.

At work i work on a mac all day long its pretty slow (i am doing graphics design) i cant stand waiting 2 seconds for each scroll down the page to work. Also programs like indesign (on the macs) just up and quit somtimes.

But i bet if we were running windows there would be 100x as much problems, what im saying in windows is nice for a personal comp while macs should be left in businesses.... this is jsut my toughts from experiance :)

As far as good laptops go i have found these:

They both feature the quadro card i am debating those right now what do you think?

In order to get a notebook that has all the features you want, you're going to be spending quite a bit of money. Yes, laptops are nice, but when you come down to it, desktops have it all. You must have a whole lot of memory and fast hard drives, as well as a quite a bit of HD space. I know this is against the grain, but I'd rather spend $2500 on a desktop that will be expandable then $4000 on a laptop that you find out you don't like using after a few weeks. Yes, the portability is nice, but you need power...more power than a laptop can get you. I mean, most laptops are stuck to 160GB if you want 7200RPM, and you'll want at least that speed, if not more. Then the capacity issue; you're going to be blowing through hard drive space. You'll want at least 1TB, more around 1.5TB, as you need to keep backups, lest you lose hours and hours of work.

I'm rambling :D. I'll configure a desktop for you later, maybe today, but more likely tomorrow. I need to get ready for this evening (my sister's grad party).
