What should I do to my case?

no side window which is kinda a bummer but no biggy, we can work with that, i suggest looking into window kits, a top window might be good, then some fire Red neons inside lighting it all up, cut an 80mm circle in the side panel and shove a LED fan in, perhaps electric blue. Top off with a UT fan grill....

This is the first reply to your question so it will probably be dummed down in 2 or 3 more posts, but just to get the ball rolling, there is my suggestion.

I'd suggest measuring out what size of window you'd want to add (assuming you do) then go to homedepot (or similar store) and find the materials you need, then find someone and tell them what you plan to do, be sure to tell them what material the case is (aluminum or steel), and finally have them show you the tools you need (you can rent them). Riveting works well to attach the window to the side panel.

What I would suggest, is that you use a protractor to draw a circle of the dimater needed, depending on what kind of fan size you intend to have. Then I would take a drill and drill holes in the same shape. Then I would use pliers to cut the center out. Then I would use a rasper and make it a perfect circle (or a different shape like mine). That's how I did what I have:

One more idea is that you could get an air-intake fan in the CD-bay area like mine. It took some 30 mins to make but definitely worth it. I did it in the way outlined above.

The side window, if you are wondering, was quite difficult. My case is made of 1mm steel and is extremely hard to cut. What I did is that I used a drill. I made a few holes in a line and then used a saw (electric) and cut out the shape needed. Then I cleaned it off and bought some very cheap rubber lining. Then I bought real glass and installed a window. ;)

cool idea,I am definitly going to add a fan to the CD bays(maybe with a UT cover ;))! ive never heard of a rasper what is that? oh i just remembered i do have metal drill bits :)

How barbaric.. :P i used a laser to get a side window cus (also 1mm thick steel ) and now im building my own case entirely out of stainless steel, i think that one will ock petty much :)




anyway.. if you are adding windows in the side/top, maybe you should get some of there plastic mirrors. you can fet really cool effects with that
 
what do you do with the mirrors? put them in place for windows? their are lasers capable of that :eek: ? i thought that was science fiction

Oh well....a file ;). I know you can have the windows shape cut with a laser or that extreme water jet current.

that is something i am lacking :( ill have to think about what else i could use or look into how much they cost. I think that a window would look really cool but i think it may be quite alot of work haha maybe ill just go with the front panel fan for now. can anyone think of anything else that would cool on it w/o a window?
 
hey Jan, how did you get the cd drive bays to stay after cutting the fan hole in it? and would you mind explaining how to do the top hole cause my case is similar to yours and i might just do what you did :D

They clip in at the sides ya know. you could hollow out 90% of them but leave the edges, they would still clip in just the same.

Here's a sketch of my technique:

Basically, I drill holes in the shape that I want. Then I use pliers and cut through the remaining metal bits between holes. Then I file the nasty bits off. Then, I take sandpaper and make sure that it's all smooth and stuff. If you have any more questions ask.

BTW: The same process was used for the front bay, where the fan is holding the two pieces together.

is the top part only plastic or is there metal underneith it? My case has the really REALLY cheap kind of metal so it should be rather easy to drill. :D
 
u should also add some LEDs to ur case too, just like i did to mines today, looks pretty BRIGHt, MWUHAHAHAHH!!! just get like 3mm LEDs and drill some holes and get some resistors and solder the cathode to anode on a parallel set up if u want to put a lot and hook it up to a 4pin molex connetor. pretty easy.
