What should I do?

I just bought a used ibook g3. It only has 256 MB, but I am planning to upgrade it very soon. In the meantime I need a machine that will be able to handle day to day tasks. It comes loaded with Mac OS 10.4. How will that run with 256 MB?
Would you suggest me to downgrade to Mac OS 10.3?
 
I'm running 10.4 on my Mini G4 1.33GHz, 512MB RAM. It runs well, but can be rather sluggish. Honestly, I don't know the real differences between 10.3 and 10.4, but I do know OS X isn't exactly a fast operating system in general...
 
Well personaly i like Mac os but if its realy sluggish running the os then maybe invest in another 256Mb stick of ram or even 512Mb.

if you dont realy want to put your hand in your wallet then you could install Linux on it i think :confused:
 
I am planning to order the new RAM after the first day I get it. Again it depends how slow it is. I was looking on Low End Mac and they said you can run 10.3 more comfortably instead of 10.4 on a ibook g3.
