Hey everyone, Im back with another question . Im wondering what you guys think I should do. here are my options, please dont make up your own options for me but rather tell me which is best.
My current build
[email protected]
4gigs Gskill
Visiontek 4870
corsiar HX620w
Option 1. Keep my 4870 and buy an E8400, overclock. 169$
Option 2. Keep my 4870 and buy a Q9550, overclock 320$
Option 3. Return my 4870 to bestbuy and get an E8400 and a 9800gtx because I only play on 1440X900 $70 bucks after 300 back from bestbuy.
Option 4. same as 3 but buy a Q9550 and upgrade 9800gtx.
Option 5. wait for nahalem. With 700 I could buy mobo/ram/cpu? I have an 8800gts 320mb.. would that setup be worth it. it will be for gaming. Will I hav enough at launch. Id assume the prices will be high?
*** I want to be able to play farcry 2 on high at my resolution and I dont know if quad core is important. I heard it is but the savings of going dual core are so tempting*** If you have an AMAZING alternative you can make your own option 6 for me but nothing rediculous please. Im working with roughly 700 if you put into account the 300 Im getting back if I return the 4870 and the 400 Im willing to spend out of pocket now.
THANKS GUYS FOR YOUR COMMENTS!!

wait for nehalem. upgrading and downgrading costs money (yes, restocking fees). the HD 4870 will last you a long time, and so will your Q6600. if you really want performance get a nehalem.. and video cards advance so quickly that its not funny so wait for that too.

Its an E6600 not Q. and I dont have to pay a fee at bestbuy. They take it no questions asked. So should I return it and get a nvidia card so Ill have 100 days to step up instead of getting stuck with a 4870?

I would never use 'getting stuck with' when referring to a 4870...its a superior card.

option 1..I'd say...

maybe 5

Nehalem will require a new socket motherboard and DDR3 ram.......Like that aint to cost alot.

Option 1 -Good cpu.

When DDR3 Ram will become a standard, prices will drop drastically. (just like DDR2)

Nehalem will be coming out at the end of this Year. If your rig is good enough, then keep it. (like me, im just gonna get a better card).

If games play OK, just live with it for a while...
