Hello there. Im not sure what to do. My older brother got a internship so he moved away and gave me his computer. But the computer is so slow...I think it is because the technology is old,
not because it has some defects etc. but I would like to hear what you think...

CPU: AMD Sempron(tm) Processor 3200+ 1.79 GHz
RAM: Crucial pc3200,1024mb+1024mb+512mb
The computer itself is a HP Pavilion

1.What can I do to make the computer faster, should I buy a new cpu, or maybe more ram?

The ram amount is fine but it sounds like it's just an old computer. Try defragging and cleaning up any old applications that you don't need or use. Run a check disk as well and make sure there are no disk errors (for the hard drive) as well as no spyware or viruses in the computer. Other than that, there's really nothing more you can do other than just building a new one.

Do the following:

1. run disk cleanup. Can be found by following:

start>all programs>applications>system tools>disc cleanup

Run everything except for compress old files

2. Go to control panel and then:

If you are using xp, add/remove programs

If you are using vista, programs and features

3. defragment your system

that should all clean up your hard drive and speed it up a little
