Ok so I'm hoping to sell my lappy for 800 bucks, if I get what I want out of it I want to try building my first gaming rig. With 800 startup bucks what should I buy first as in materials i.e. case, mobo, cpu stuff like that. And if anyone can post up a cheap gaming rig that doesn't go much above 12-15k usd so I have an idea of what kinda hardware I need that would be great. I don't know much other than I want to play the latest games, I plan on using newegg.com or tigerdirect, whichever I can get the item cheaper from. Thanks!

I'm just going to assume that you mean 12-15 HUNDRED not 12-15k... because then you could get whatever you wanted. Gotta choose if you want amd or intel... a lot of people say intel is leading the charge now but I still like my amd. Then like JzmDjnn said get a mobo that fits it and can fit whatever you want to put in your comp.. and start filling it in.
Ok last night i did some searching and I think I want to go with an intel processor, A dual core 6600 (2.4 ghz) I see alot of people use that processor and are happy, I also thought about going with the big brother of this processor the Quad Core which is only like 300 bucks. If I wanted this processor which mobo would I have to use to be compatable? Also if it's a possible to get a cheap on with an sli option?
