I am new to this forum, however, being a member of several different forums, I know that it is a good place to go for advice. As a graduation present I was told that I can choose any laptop that i want as long as the price doesnt exceed $1000. The person who is purchasing it for me wants it to be a "reliable" and "trustworthy" brand. So i have been looking and looking, but it is very hard for me to narrow these down.

They are all pretty much the same spec's with differences here and there. I would like you all to suggest which choice is best or if you have a suggestion of something that is not in that list i would like you to tell me. Thanks:D

Are you going to use it for gaming?

All those are decent laptops, but I would go with a Dell. You can get a Dell with pretty good specs, and a dedicated video card for $1000 or less even.

Oh, sorry. The laptop won't really be used for gaming. I'm looking for something thats pretty "all purpose". Generally, it'll be used for surfing the web, possibly used for photoshop and visual basic.

Thankx for your reply Omega

I would still go with a Dell, you can get a faster Core 2 Duo processor, probably 2GB of RAM, and a large hard drive for under $1000. I'll build one online and post back.

That laptop is much, much better then the ones on Newegg, and it's cheaper.

You have a faster Core 2 Duo @ 1.73Ghz, 1GB DDR2, 120GB HD, dedicated 256MB x1400 video card, and a 9-cell battery which will last 3-5 hours.

And most importantly, unlike the others, this has a dedicated video card. I know you said you wont game, but this will allow you to play some of the newer games if you want, and will improve photoshop and similar apps performance.

Thanks again OMega, I am purchasing that. I found a coupon code that allowed me to save like an extra $100 so i was able to add on even more features. Thankx alot:D:D:D:D

As much as I hate to say it, with your price range, Dell wins out. I try to stear away from Dell now adays mostly on desktops (But I own one, irony anyone?). But for what you can get with that deal, and the coupons it is a no brainer, if you order that one..you will enjoy.

How does DELL manufacture and sell computer that cheap? I was about to suggest a Macbook, but that laptop is so much better for the price.

Sounds pretty good for the money. Are you buying, or have you already bought it? You might want to check out Review Centre, go to PC's and then type in the PC's make and model. It will give you a list of reviews by Dell e1505 owners, and the company review people at review centre.
