what should I overclock to?

Hello, Ive had my gpu for about a year now and I feel it needs a little boost. I run a gtx 260 core 216 superclocked edition, It came with a evga percision overclocking utility. should i use this one? if so how high should i go to get a noticable effect? will I have to increase my case fans speed? thanks!!!
 
It all depends. In general, you would go as high as the card can stably handle. If you start getting artifacts or crashes, turn down the clocks. Same for temperature and fan settings. If your card winds up getting too hot, turn up the fan speed as required. I've heard very good things about EVGA and their respective software, so precision should suit your needs fine. If you would rather not use it or want an alternative, google rivatuner. Its a very robust GPU program, and will do more than you'll ever need it to at the cost of ease of use.
 
In order to test stability you can use FurMark, which puts quite a strain on the GPU and should show you if the GPU is stable.
 
I would not use furmark ive heard bad things it can do to a gpu just google around. Just run 3dmark vantage or something like that
 
FurMark is a bit like Prime95 (software used for CPU stability testing), it stresses and heats the component it is testing more than what you'll usually ever do. Not even gaming will usually stress the GPU or CPU as much as FurMark or Prime95. This means that if it's stable when running FurMark or Prime95, it should be stable no matter what you do on your computer. Though you should definitely make sure you aren't going over safe temperatures when stress testing.
