WHat would be a good size power supply to power the following:

Processor: AMD Athlon 64 X2 5000+ Brisbane 2.6GHz Socket AM2 65W

Mobo: GIGABYTE GA-MA69GM-S2H AM2

RAM: 3 Gigs 6400

Hard Drives: 1-3 Sata drives

Video card: Nvidia 6600

Optical: 2 cd drives

3 or more fans

Yeah that looks good, I'm not sure 500W would be enough for you though.

Trust me. You don't want your PSU to blow up on you in the middle of a LAN or anything thing. I know from first hand experience.

LOL that would be funny, but it would suck at the sametime. The thing is I dont game really, the extent of my gaming is playing MVP 2005 and emulators. I mostly use the PC for music, surfing and other things but nothing crazy.

Well, look at getting a 600W PSU. Just for safe measures, also if you want to upgrade to a better CPU or any component you won't have to worry about your PSU.

its the quality of the psu that matters in that case. not how many watts it is.
if you had a 9999watt psu its not be as good as a 500watt made by a trusted manufacturer

A quality 400 watt PSU would be plenty for that system. A 600-850 watt PSU would be a complete over-kill. The 6600gt isn't exactly a power hungry card.

havent you got a 480watt one? or your getting a new one?

i reckon an antec earthwatts 500watt lol

but if you cant afford that then im not sure.

then anteq basic isnt as good quality... but that might do/

The 480 watt no name I have had for more than a year with no issues, but it being used on a Dell 2400 and I dont know if this build is going to make the PSU work harder
