What software could I use to make writing circulate a symbol?

I want to make writing go around a symbol in a circular fashion so the writing encircles it completely, how do I do this? What software would be good to do this with? Word, gimp? anything else?
 
Word and gimp would work. If you have the Adobe Collection you could use one of those programs such as Illustrator or Photoshop. But if it's only a circle you want then I guess you could just use paint :P.
 
I think I misread the question when I first read it. I thought you mean draw a circle :P. Although, I think there are some effects on Word that will orientate your words in a circle like fashion, not exactly a circle though. Click Insert > Click WordArt > The third and fourth designs are sort of circular. Sorry If I wasn't much help :/
