i have an AMD Athlon 64 X2 4000+, stock it was 2.1ghz, ive got it clocked to 2.56ghz atm, under a slight load, its running around 38-40 C, whats the failure temperature for this processor? and whats an average temp for it?

thanks,

michael

From what I understand, the absolute maximum allowable die temp for these processors is 70°C.

I personally would shut the PC down if I had temps of 57°-60°C and/or a room temp of anything over 32°C.

I have an X2 4200+ that's not overclocked. Idle temp is 29°C, and running both cores at 100% continuously in a 27°C room gives me a core temp of 45°C (heatsink and fan direct-ducted to room air). High humidity will raise these temps some, to maybe 48°C.
