One of friends pc keeps on rebooting after the boot process. After boot the blue screen pops up for like half a second (you can barely see it) and the pc reboot automatically.he is winxp pro sp2..i strongly doubt that this is not hardware problem.Because we've tested all parts to another pc except the HD..if this is software prob (or OS maybe) can we try a repair ?

Try a windows repair, if that doesn't work I'd suggest putting the drive as a slave on another PC and having a backup, then just reformat:)

Do you know the exact error?

Boot off your windows xp cd and run recovery console, select your installation (typically its the first one) and type in your administrator password, if you did not set an administrator password just leave it blank and hit enter

at the command prompt type

fixboot (hit enter and then let it rebuild the boot sector)

chkdsk /r /f

then let chkdsk do its thing. Maybe this will help, maybe not.

Sorry but i wont do Fixmbr..There's no boot problem. If it was boot we wouldn't even get pass the xp bootscreen.Anyway i already did chkdsk but that didn't help.

Not necessarily true, in the boot strap process there are several files that are processed. If one is corrupt it could halt the system and reboot it, seen it myself before.
