What the hell? Price differences explained please?

Right, I know this much. The 6800 and the 7800 are nVidia's best and most well loved cards for games. But what about all the ones in between? The 7600 etc...are they any good? Good enough for Oblivion? And why are they a lot cheaper?

The 7600's are the mid-range cards of the 7xxx series. The reason they are cheap is because it's actually relatively cheap to manufacture them. They are very good cards for their price.

Would buying one give me a better performance in terms of playing Oblivion? Or should I stick to a 6800?

The 7600 would be better, in terms of graphic performance. Whether it performs better on the game, is dependant upon how demanding it is. If you play a game that was made 3 years ago, you won't see an improvement. But if you compare it with games like Battlefield 2, F.E.A.R etc... then you will see a performance increase.
