What the hell; taskbar not showing up

I just rebooted my dell and the taskbar is not showing up at all. The start menu shows up if I do Ctrl-Esc though.v What could be happening? And yes, i restarted explorer.exe and the problem is still showing up.
 
If Auto-hide is off then either you may have the takbar pushed down and in that case you could lift it up, or there could be a glitch on your computer which has happened to me before a couple of times when my computer started up, but it resolved when i restarted. However i see the first option to be more likely
 
ugh! I had the same problem, and I ended up reformatting. I should have tried Ctrl+Esc...
I think it's a problem with the actual explorer.exe. Of course, I couldn't run a repair because I've got an HP computer. And we all know HP software usally doesn't work. The cd I had to burn had a damaged version of the repair tool. It would have saved a lot of frustration if that had worked...

I use Linux for a reason.
