What the hell was that?

I have OCed my GPU to 715/910 and it was stable till date only once or twice it crashed while playing GRAW.Then yesterday I played "Bioshock" at medium resolution and high details.I was well pleased to see how my card gave the fps of betn 30-50.The gameplay also was smooth. Then suddenly after playing for a while it crashed (BSOD) and my rebooted. It happened for two or three times. Then I shut down my PC,watched TV for a while and again when I boot my PC there was no signal on my monitor but I heard the welcome sound. Then I poped out my VGA and boot my PC with onboard it ran well. Then again I poped in my VGA card this time it worked. Then I played Bioshock again in the default setting of VGA card and medium setting of game it worked well.So can anyone tell me what had happened?

The problem is really hard to pinpoint because there are so many variables. Bioshock is not exactly the most polished game. There are alot of bugs that need to be ironed out. Is your card the 8600GT? I suggest you not overclock when you play bioshock because it will just create more problems. I can play it on High with my 7900GT, but then my card outperforms the 8600GT. Bioshock has crashed a few times on me before and at different places each time. I suggest you use F8 quicksave often.
Good game though, I just wish they fix the bugs up.

No. I suggest try downclocking first. It could be an problem with the game, the GFX fan, or overheating. Downclock is my first suggestion. If you leave it overclocked for too long and it is not stable (BSOD's) then it may fry itself (although it rarely happens)

A graphics card frying is even more remote than you winning the lottery because of the many protective measure that your graphics card have. If you push your card too far it will just crash and reboot your computer so overclocking it shouldn't damage your hardware.
Like I said before, you shouldn't overclock while playing Bioshock because its going to exacerbate the bugs in the game.

Then your overclocking is responsible. Therefore to rectify the problem just don't overclock when you play Bioshock, plain and simple.

I tried the Bioshock demo twice and both times it froze a few minutes in but didn't BSOD. Couldn't get off it though so i had to inproperly restart.

It's probably my overclocking too then, I've got a 8500GT from 450/800 stock to
550/900 stable.
