Hey, My dad is goin to Hong Kong on business and im sure he can get some deals on computer parts to bring home for me. so im gonna upgrade my bros comp. his comp:

-p4 3.0ghz prescott core lga 775
-1 gb ddr2 ram
-ati x800xl
-dell mobo and case
-rosewill psu
-1 80gb hd and a 300gb hd
-dvd burner

i want to get him a new mobo and cpu fan, and if i can more ram and even a new gpu(7800gt). the thing is im not sure wat to get in hong kong?

am i totally wrong and hong kong might be more expensive? and are the brands the same? how do i know im not getting some shitty mobo?

and is there anything else they have for cheap i culd get.

I don't know about prices but you should try and find out about warranty?
Will airport security equipment harm motherboards or other components.
What duties have to be paid? How much?

yea good point. ecspecially the motherboards on airplane security. they will probably think its a bomb and arrest my dad if he takes it on the plane wit him.

with the cost to ship it back here it might be cheaper to get it here.

Well, if you do upgrade here, i used to have a dell, and tried to upgrade the mobo, but damn dell's cases are not compatable with any other mobos that didn't come with it. Get a new case too.

well i dont think they will think its a bomb if he keeps it in the box and show it to them. b/c you can take laptops w/ you and such. like instead of keeping the mobo in his suitcase put it in a bag so that it can be easily taken out of its box and shown to the security.but also he could only spend so much or else he would get taxed by customs. so i think it would be cheaper to buy here
